A clinico histomorphologic study of spectrum of benign breast diseases

Context: Breast an organ which is constantly under the influence of sex hormones, one frequent site neoplasm in human body. Benign breast diseases comprise a heterogeneous group lesions that present with varying symptoms or detected incidentally.Aims: To evaluate histopathological features benign and proliferative having potential to progress malignancy.Materials & Methods: All lumpectomy trucut biopsy specimens referred Central Diagnostic Laboratory Pathology Department at tertiary care hospital for evaluation were enrolled study. This was four year study included two retrospective prospective H E sections studied, special stains IHC made use wherever required.Results: A total 100 cases studied. The most common lesion fibroadenoma (29%) followed by disease (11%), Gynaecomastia (10%) fibrocystic change (7%). more age 40-50 years. In patients Black Chabon Score 3, 4 (18.75%) increased risk malignancy.Conclusion: tissue forms major received examination. It thus recommended all women above 40 years presenting palpable lump suspicious non-palpable abnormality on screening mammogram have their excised even though suspected be benign.
